The Main Library has a wide range of materials for all ages - children, teens, and adults. Our collection includes books, magazines, newspapers, DVDs, books on CD and cassette, music CDs, large print materials, downloadable audio books, and children's CD-Roms. We also collect materials in Spanish and Polish. We have both the New Britain Herald and the New York Times on microfilm. Our Local History Room has a repository of items pertaining to New Britain, including books, newspaper clippings, yearbooks, and photographs. We can obtain materials from our Jefferson Branch (if they are not checked out), or from other libraries in our network.

We offer programs for all ages and interests. Regular programs include children's storytimes, summer reading events, tutoring for teens, computer classes for adults, lunchtime matinees featuring classic films, and book discussion groups at the New Britain Senior Center and the Main Library. Many other special events are scheduled throughout the year. Check our calendar of events for specific information. We welcome suggestions for programs that would interest you.
