Librarian I - Young Adult Services
$36,153; Full-time position (37.5 hrs/wk) that includes at least one evening per week, as well as alternate Fridays & Saturdays
Summary of Duties: Plans, organizes, and implements services for teens in a highly active department. Responsibility for both in-library and outreach programs and providing reference and reader’s advisory services. Materials selection and collection maintenance, supervision of the YA staff.
Qualification: MLS Degree and appropriate experience, including some supervisory; Public library experience in Young Adult Services preferred. Computer literacy required; working knowledge of hardware preferred. Proficiency in Spanish, or other language prevalent in New Britain preferred. Knowledge of SIRSI a plus. Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle.
Demonstrated ability to work with teens and excellent
Interpersonal skills in general; considerable knowledge of young adult literature and teen development; excellent communication skills, both oral and written; ability to interact well with a wide variety of people.

Supervisor of Circulation - Librarian II (Adult Services Department)
$39,165.75; Full-time position (37.5 hrs/wk) that includes at least one evening per week, as well as alternate Fridays & Saturdays
Summary of Duties: Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the adult circulation unit in the main library. Oversees the basic development and maintenance of circulation resources and services, under the supervision of the Head of Adult Services. Supervises staff, trains, schedules, and coordinates activities of circulation unit in the Main Library. Interfaces with all departments to assure good communication, ongoing training and parallel circulation procedures library-wide. Provides outreach materials to various organizations throughout the community.
Qualification: MLS degree and at least three years in a library supervisory capacity as well as in public library services experience. Ability to research and analyze data, to perform detailed work, and to plan, organize, and implement both long and short termed projects. Experience with SIRSI preferred.
